How SellOld works

This page explains what SellOld is, where our prices come from, and how we make money. SellOld is a price comparison site for phone buyback in India. We hold no stock and do no pickups — we show you what 12 platforms will pay for your phone, and you sell directly to the one you choose.

The three steps

  1. 1

    Tell us about your phone

Pick your model and answer 8 questions about its condition — screen, body, faults, battery, repairs, accessories. Takes about 60 seconds. No login, no OTP, no phone number.

  2. 2

    See every price at once

Each platform grades phones by its own rules, so we translate your answers into each platform's grade and show its price for that grade. Sorted by price, highest first. Always.

  3. 3

    Sell to whoever pays most

Click through to the platform you choose and book the pickup on their site. They inspect the phone at your door, confirm the amount, and pay you — most pay by UPI at doorstep.

Honest answers

Where do the prices come from?

Three sources: price feeds from partner platforms, automated checks of public price calculators, and manual checks by our team. Every price row is stored with its capture date, and every page shows when its prices were last updated. Prices marked as estimates are modelled from real quotes and typical depreciation until we have a live figure.

How does condition grading work?

Every platform grades phones differently — one platform's 'Good' is another's 'Fair'. You answer one set of questions and we map your answers to each platform's own grading rules, so the prices you see are for the grade that platform would actually assign.

How does SellOld make money?

Platforms pay us a referral fee when a sale completes. The fee comes out of their margin, not your payout — the price you see is the platform's own quote. We are never paid to rank one platform above another; the table is sorted by price, highest first.

Why can the final price differ at pickup?

Every platform physically inspects the phone at pickup and confirms the final amount then. If your description matches the phone, the quote should hold. Mismatches — a crack you didn't mention, a missing bill — lower it. We track quoted-versus-paid data by platform and will publish reliability scores once we have enough surveyed pickups per platform.

Do I need to share my phone number to see prices?

No. You see every price without signing up, without OTP, and without a call back. A platform only gets your details if you choose to sell there and book a pickup on their site.

Transparency

Regadget, one of the platforms we compare, is operated by our group. It is listed and ranked exactly like every other platform — by price — and receives no preference. If that ever changes, this page will say so.
